The PhD and post-doc students of the Mosaïques Laboratory are also part of the Ecole doctorale Milieux, cultures et sociétés du passé et du présent, ED 395, Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense
The Ecole doctorale 395 “Milieux, cultures et sociétés du passé et du présent” (MCSPP) represents a unique structure in Paris and Ile de France, bringing together a wide range of disciplines : Archeology, Architecture, Ethnology, Prehistory, Ethno-musicology, Geography, Urban Planning and Urban Design, History, Art History…

The Ecole Doctorale has 3 missions within the university :

Pedagogic : the organization of doctoral instruction and continued support for doctoral candidates, support for professionalization.

Organizational : budgeting, doctoral contracts, the politics of financing PhD but also careful attention to the charter of university theses.

Animation of research : organizing the dialogue between different research units in order to define major thematic orientations.

The Laboratoire Mosaïques offers two seminars to doctoral candidates for the academic year 2010-2011 :

• A methodological seminar, which aims to confront several tangent questions concerning research projects : historic connections, the risks and difficulties of comparison, the use of photos or videos, architectural dimensions (…)
Every first Friday of the month beginning November 5, from 10am to 1pm, room A201

• A thematic seminar, “Participatory urban design”, in collaboration with Pierre Hamel, professor at the University of Montreal, and Mario Gauthier, professor at the University of Quebec in Outaouais, every first Friday of the month, beginning December 3, from 2:30 to 5pm, room A 201
